Our Story

Our Founder

My name is Robin Glass, and I am the founder of Lucy’s Legacy. Currently, I am a sophomore at Davidson College and have run this charity since founding it when I was eight, but I plan on continuing my work in animal-related issues through college and beyond.

How it all Started

I started Lucy’s Legacy in 2014 after my dog, Lucy, passed away and we rescued Hope. Both dogs were in dire need of veterinary care, and even at eight years old, I knew the kinds of resources my parents had to put in just to try to save my dogs. It was around that time that I also started wondering what owners did if they did not have enough money to pay for oftentimes expensive but necessary vet bills. From that, my charity was born and has vastly expanded from helping animal owners with paying for their pet’s vet care to improving the wellbeing of animals in multiple states, educating kids about animal-related issues, and raising funds for animal-related organizations.

Our Mission

The overall mission of Lucy’s Legacy has remained the same, though the scale has changed vastly: to help animals through donation and education. 100% of our proceeds go to animal organizations or individual animals in need. While the mission is abstract, we embrace the constantly expanding scope of this; it started out as a few Girl Scout troops inviting me to their schools to speak on animal-related issues and has turned into an organization that plans interstate projects, hopes to educate as many kids as possible about the needs of animals, and show that even at a young age, they, too, can create a difference.
